The Austin Public Library and the APL Staff Association present the APL staff art showcase Art Is What You Make: The Unrequited Truth on display February 6 through 28 at the Faulk Central Library, 800 Guadalupe. In light of Valentine's Day, the show's theme explores how humans elevate love to such heights that it often falls short of expectations. Think my mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun.

Art Is What You Make will have an Artists' Reception at 7:00 p.m. on February 5 at the United States Art Authority @ Spiderhouse, 2906 Fruth St. sponsored by Art Seen Alliance and the APL Staff Association. The reception will feature Jazz with Alison O'Reilly and the Jacob Wise Trio, video installation, a sampling of work from the exhibit, and a live art auction.

The exhibit features a variety of mediums, including sculpture, painting, photography, textile art, and more. There will also be a digital component of the exhibit online at artiswhatyoumake.blogspot.com with information about the artists and images of their work. The digital exhibit includes mediums that cannot logistically be displayed in the library, such as video, music, and the written word, in addition to traditional visual art.

Jazz with Alison O'Reilly and the Jacob Wise Trio
